Dubai is being developed as a major destination for tourism. From being just another oil-producing city in the UAE, it has been transformed into a tourism hub. The property market has been flourishing and many infrastructure projects are being introduced. Several developers are planning an increasing number of ambitious projects to transform the landscape of the city. Let’s take a look at some of the projects and where they stand in 2015.
Mall of the World
This is a project under Dubai Holding, a decade-old company that is working on multiple projects in 24 countries. After the completion of this project, the mall will be the largest across the globe with an area of 48 million square feet. Work on this will commence from March 2015. The project is expected to get completed in 10 years, with its first phase becoming operational within 3 years. The mall will be located at Mohammed Bin Rashid City. It will not only consist of a shopping area, but also a theme park, hotel rooms, etc. The theme park will also be developed as the largest in the world.
This is a 4.5 million square ft. project. Its developer, Indigo Properties, was established in 2004 and aims to develop niche projects and offers an array of property options. It will start the construction of the Zen Project in early 2015 and complete it within two-and-a half years. This world-class resort will have amenities like villas, play areas, gardens, etc. The resort will be built at Dubai Golf City.
A new island will be developed near the coastline of Jumeirah Beach Residence. The island will have a residential area, hotels, markets and entertainment zones. The project is under construction and is expected to be completed by 2018. The major attraction of this island is the ‘Blue Eye.’ When developed, this will be world’s largest Ferris wheel and will provide a panoramic view of the city. A huge LED screen will also be mounted on this wheel for broadcasting. This project is being developed by Meraas Holding. The Dubai-based company is developing projects to promote tourism and boost the economy of the city.
Palm Jumeirah Boardwalk
This will be an 11 km-long path built at the Palm Jumeirah. It will consist of 20 waterfront kiosks and two piers of 100m each. The Boardwalk will be a perfect destination for walking, shopping and dining with a picturesque view. The construction started in the end of 2014 and is expected to be accomplished by mid-2016. The project is being developed by the renowned Nakheel Properties. This real-estate company has played a major role in transforming the landscape of Dubai.
