Another eventful year has come to an end at Dubai Duty Free with the retail operation announcing record annual sales of over Dhs 2.56 billion (over US$ 712 million), representing a 20% increase over last year. Commenting on the year end figures, H. H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of the Department of Civil Aviation, Dubai said: “It has been another remarkable year for Dubai Duty Free, which has retained its position as the third largest airport retailer in the world in terms of turnover. The operation is continually reviewing and revising the retail offer and I congratulate the team at Dubai Duty Free on its ongoing achievements.”
As expected, the last month of the year provided the operation with some new sales statistics, when daily sales on the 20 th December, Dubai Duty Free's 23rd Anniversary, soared to an unprecedented Dhs29.5 million (US$8.2 million). The month of December also set a new monthly record with sales topping Dhs 290 million (US$ 80 million).
